Running Late (Capitalism)
If you walk the wrong way on Midtown streets towards the end of the work day you run the risk of being bowled over by the loyal workers of late capitalism as they pour from the doors of tall buildings and rush to catch their trains home to families and other comforts. You can sense their relief in being done for the day, and also a hint of panic or something apocalyptic in their determined faces and flying shoes as they try to make the train or bus that will get them home at a reasonable hour. As someone who is chronically running late myself, I empathize with their struggle, and all those running late in this over-worked, time-pressed city.
